Since 1986 my professional career has always been in internationalisation of higher education. As employee, vice director and since 1991director of the international relations office of Utrecht University. Later on also as acting director of the EAIE, president of the EAIE, director of the Utrecht Summer School and of the James Boswell Instituut of Utrecht University.
I structured my consultancy work in the field of international relations since 2000 in Ziggurat BV, together with my colleague and partner drs. Inez Meurs.
If you understand Dutch, read more about this – if I may say so – successfull entity of Utrecht University: Bureau Buitenland.
This network (1987) was set up originally for the exchange of experience and information. But already in the second year it was transformed into an efficient machinery for the international exchange of students between the members. In the mean time it also serves as exchange mechanism with other consortia outside the European Union (United States and Australia).
Acting Director in 2000 – 2001.
President from 2002 – 2004.
An impression
You may consider the summer school as a next step in internationalisation. It makes the students’ international experience fit in the tighter schedule of most study systems. (Director since 2005)
The profile of the Boswell Institute is somehow double. At one hand its mission is linked with the access to the university. At the other hand it is the internal training institute for all non curricular courses. The profile is increasingly liked with internationalisation. (Director since 2006)
After the closing of the International Relations Office of Utrecht University, I accepted more consultancy assignments. Most of my consultancy work I carry out with my own enterprise Ziggurat.
